FOR THE QUEEN
The Elf Queen sealed herself away behind four cursed realms. One knight spent three years learning how to reach her.
FOR THE QUEEN is a rhythm-roguelite where every fight is a countdown. Beats circle a clock face - strike the green ones, block the blue ones, and land them dead on the beat for critical hits and combo multipliers. Miss, or panic and mash, and you'll be staggered while the enemy's blade comes down.
When the countdown hits zero, it doesn't end. It resets - faster, and with more to block.
Cut through orc warcamps, golem foundries, dragon roosts and the demon abyss to reach her throne. She's been watching your whole climb through a scrying pool, and she's certain she knows why you're coming.
She's wrong.
How it plays
- A - strike the green beats
- D - block the blue beats before they land
- S - golden specials (unlocked through upgrades)
Perfect timing crits and builds your combo. Sloppy timing still lands. Mashing all three keys gets you nowhere - the game knows.
Features
- Two heroes. The Samurai is a glass cannon with a tight timing window and huge crits. The Knight is a bulwark - big HP, forgiving timing, and perfect blocks that reflect damage.
- Roguelite upgrades. Pick one of three after every kill: more HP, wider timing windows, lifesteal, extra attack beats, reflect, or a special that heals or hits for triple.
- Four realms and a boss. Orcs, golems, dragons, demons - three enemy types each, all scaling with depth - then the Elf Queen herself.
- A story worth finishing. Story-driven text cutscenes between realms, with an ending that isn't the one she's expecting.
- Endless mode, unlocked once you've beaten the story. Descend until the clock beats you.
Controls

One of the best games I played so far!
Love the mechanic and the art/animation
Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you liked it!
I like this a lot. Fun game! I'm glad you put the buttons on there. I was able to play it on the itch mobile app, which was awesome.
Two little suggestions:
First I get into the flow of fighting an enemy, and then it's over because I've killed them. Maybe increasing each battle to have multiple enemies so I can get into the rhythm of the fight would be nice, so it's not like finding a rhythm only to have it interrupted immediately.
And second, there were times that the radial is moving around, and then it gets to 12 o'clock and resets. Immediately after, there's an interaction at around 1 o'clock, but I don't know what it is until the radial has already gotten to 12, so I end up missing that first beat on the clock.
I have two ideas that might help:
• Having a pie-shaped radial so you can see what is being revealed next before the clock gets to 12.
• Having them on a spiral so they are slowly approaching you, and then they hit when they reach that top radial.
Overall, just some thoughts and ideas. Really enjoyed playing this one, and next I'm gonna try it on the computer.
Cheers
Thank you so much for the detailed comment, I really appreciate it!
As for the ideas, I was thinking about something similar, if I develop it further, I will definitely fix these gameplay flaws, and of course I will increase the duration of the battles so that they do not end as soon as they begin! Thanks a lot again!
